PHILIP H. SHERIDAN
(1831 - 1888) Union major general of cavalry and famous Indian fighter. Sheridan's fighting prowess was evident throughout the war, from Booneville to Chickamauga and the elimination of J.E.B. Stuart at Yellow Tavern. An ornate partly-printed D.S. "P. H . Sheridan" as President of the Society of the Army of the Cumberland, 1p. oblong folio on parchment, Cincinnati, May 23, 1884. A membership certificate issued to a 1st Lieutenant in the 2nd Kentucky Cavalry. Vertically countersigned in the text by Union Major General GEORGE H. THOMAS. The document is ornately engraved with portraits of Buell, Rosecrans and Thomas together with battle vignettes and the image of crippled veterans. Small toned spot at top that is also chipped and can be easily matted out, light foxing at margins, else very good.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made.
