Description:

Rare good content T.L.S., 2pp. oblong 8vo., Le Rouret, Dec. 7, 1960 to a researcher, possibly for a television of film emission. In part: '...I think you will like the flying sequences and the rest of the maquis adventures in By Moonlight; they are pretty well factual and I simply have allowed one of the British pilots who fed arms to these men to land his crate amongst them - as many of them did - so that the story could be told through his eyes. Schlabrendorff is a man I hold in the very highest regard...that man suffered terribly and was lucky not to pay the supreme penalty...Jack Churchill...introduced bows and arrows as weapons to No. 2 Commando...' Fine condition. Fabian
von Schlabrendorff (1907-1980), was a German jurist, soldier, and member of the resistance against Adolf Hitler. He was arrested following the failed 20 July Plot and was sent to Gestapo prison where he was tortured, but refused to talk.
