Description:

Rare "arbeitsbuch" from a German worker employed at Peenemunde, the German base highly involved in the development and production of the V-2 rocket. Hermann Zunker, born 1896 in Jacobsdorf. The Arbeitsbuch, issued in Neustettin, shows his employment first in Dramburg in concrete and rail manufacturing from 1935 to 1940 when he goes to Peenemunde. He remained there until at least July, 1944 employed in the same type of work, which was undoubtedly tied to the gearing-up of the site from a test facility to a military base for V-2 attacks on England. Interestingly, Zunker's primary employer at Peenemunde was Huta Hoch-ung Tiefbau AG -- the same firm heavily involved in construction in Auschwitz, most notably its crematoria. A document evidencing Zunker's employment with HUTA is included, as well as a 2" x 3 1/2" wartime "doctored" photo of a V-2 over London.
