PEARL HARBOR - DONALD K. ROSS
(1910 - 1992) American naval officer who received the first Medal of Honor of World War II for gallantry during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Fine lot of four signed items in various formats, including: an A.L.S. Jan. 28, 1991, on personal letterhead explaining to the recipient that he receives no financial support from the Navy and thus must charge a minimal fee for signed photographs, etc. so that he might recoup his costs; a reproduction facsimile of his Medal of Honor citation, signed at conclusion; 40th Anniversary cacheted cover commemorating the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, postmarked December 7, 1981, signed in full adding his rank; a reprint of an article that appeared in U.S News and World Report, December 10, 1990 titled "Saving a Battleship", 2pp., outlining Ross' exploits in saving the USS Nevada at Pearl Harbor, signed with first name only. Fine condition. From the personal collection of World War II and Civil War historian Michael Miner. Miner's thirty-year collection was built through an extensive system of contacts he developed with artifact hunters and diggers in Europe and the Far East, and he maintained careful records of the items he amassed.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyer's should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
