Description:

(1896 - 1960) Younger sister of Adolf Hitler, his only sibling to survive into adulthood. She never joined the Nazi Party and largely remained on the sidelines, though after the war she accepted the charity of ex-SS officers and survivors of Hitler's inner circle. T.L.S."Paula Hitler Wolf", 1p. 4to., Berchtesgaden, Aug. 16, 1953, writing to a Russell F. Anderson regarding an American newspaper article she is writing or editing. Notably, she writes about her brother's contribution to their hometown's infrastructure, in part:"...when American travel companies come to Germany, they will not miss traveling through Austria. And when they drive through Linz, they should not forget that despite the intensive efforts to deny the merits of my brother to his hometown, they can't deny that Adolf Hitler gave the city its new face, which kept up with the time. In the post war years, the infrastructure was expanded with many new buildings, like the hospital, national bank, and other industry. The young generation naturally grows into the new time, whereas the old wander through the street with pride, but after a long absence, fail to recognize it..." She also adds:"...I just noticed in an old newspaper that the picture of my mother and my niece Geli was painted by Professor Langhorst..." After the war's end, Paula had adopted the pseudonym"Paula Wolf", likely to avoid negative press. Paper clip stain and other slight staining on top edge, else very good to fine.
