Description:

(1896 - 1960) Younger sister of Adolf Hitler, his only sibling to survive into adulthood. She never joined the Nazi Party and largely remained on the sidelines, though after the war she accepted the charity of ex-SS officers and survivors of Hitler's inner circle. Good lot of two T.L.S. 'Paula Hitler-Wolf' (the 'Wolf' added during her brother's rise to power to help her avoid publicity), the signatures damaged with some loss, along with one T.L.S. with entire signature lost, each 1p. 4to. on airmail onionskin, Berchtesgaden, in German to Russell F. Anderson who was negotiating with her to write her memoir. In a Feb. 2, 1953 letter, she asks that monies for her memoir be sent to a band in Berchtesgaden, and notes her relatively poor financial situation. She also mentions that she is sending the first part of her memoir, along with a photo of the graves of her parents. In her second letter, Feb. 25, 1953, Hitler further discusses payment for her article, asking for a total of $300. She adds: '...You can see...from the way I write, that I try to be very objective...And if I write something under my name, it is different from when Mr. Meier or Muller publishes memories from my parents' house that he has collected...' The third letter, lacking signature, is dated May 12, 1953. She complains of 'sitting at the typewriter', and mentions having her lawyer becoming involved. She notes that she had no connection with the 'House Wahnfried' (composer Richard Wagner's home) and refers to her brother Adolf's 'adoration of everything connected with Richard Wagner'....I appreciate naturally the recognition which you allot to my brother...' Three pieces.
