Description:

(1915 - 2008) American bomber pilot of the Enola Gay, which dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima, August 6, 1945. Printed D.S., 1p. 4to., [n.p., n.d.], a signed transcript of an interview Tibbets gave to USA Today. Notable excerpts from his responses in part: '...Our flight all the way up the coastline of Japan went exactly like we had planned. I had sent airplanes in advance...they could tell me what the weather was over each of the three targets, because I could go to any one of those three cities. It had to be a target that was seen visually. Radar was primitive in those days, so my orders were from Day One to drop the weapon visually...All this happened exactly the way it was supposed to happen...' with more excellent content. Signed at the conclusion in blue ink. Fine condition.
