Description:

PAUL VON HINDENBURG
(1847 - 1934) German general and politician, crushed the Russians at Tannenburg and in Poland during World War I; forced to yield the Chancellor's office to Hitler in 1933. Fine association and World War I-content, partly-printed D.S. 1p. legal folio, [n.p. but Charlesville-Mezieres, Ardenne, n.d. but ca. 1919]. Von Hindenburg writes a report in bold pencil from Generaloberst Hans Georg Hermann von Plessen regarding an attack planned by Major von Helmut von Bockelburg. Docketed at the bottom ‘11/1 9 40 heures [?]'. Absolutely worthy of full transcription and research! Very good. Hans Georg Hermann von Plessen (1841-1929) was a Prussian general; he held office as Generaladjutant to Kaiser Wilhelm II, making him one of the Kaiser's closest advisors. Awarded the Pour le Merite award. Alfred Bernard von Vollard-Bockelberg (1874-1945) was a Prussian military leader on von Hindenburg's staff who reached the rank of Colonel (Generaloberst). During World War II, he served as military commander at Posen and Konigsberg, then served as military commander of Paris in 1940. Arrested by the Soviets at war's end, he disappeared and was presumed dead.
