Lot 1
Boston to Lexington to warn of the advance of the British, also designed the first printed Continental currency and the colonies' first official seal. Rare and most unusual partly printed D.S. "Paul Revere" 1p. vellum, oblong folio, Boston, Sept. 3, 1800, a Masonic document certifying Moses Ward as a third degree Mason. The document bears a fine engraving, likely undertaken by Revere, replete with the usual Masonic images and with a red ribbon threaded into the upper left corner. Usual folds, otherwise in very good condition. Matted and framed with a color image of Revere. This is the only such Revere-Masonic item we have encountered. Not examined out of frame.
