Description:

PANZER AUFKLAERUNG PHOTO ALBUM AND DOCUMENT GROUPING
Photo and document grouping of Oberwachtmeister Werner Ullrich, an Iron Cross recipient who served with a panzer reconnaissance unit, a scouting unit, and a Kradschutz (armed motorcycle) battalion. Within a 8 1/2" x 10 1/2" cloth covered album with Iron Cross on the cover, Ullrich pasted over 125 photos of varying sizes depicting his service from 1939-42, including the invasion of Belgium, France, and Russia during which he was involved in all major operations. Photos show him training on a motorcycle with sidecar, crossing a pontoon bridge in France, combat images of soldiers on the move through a forest and a town burning, destruction in Machault (Ardennes) and Chatell, soldiers and tanks in the field, a wrecked French artillery position, destroyed pillboxes, Paris, Russian towns in ruins, slogging through the mud, and so on. Plenty of images include motorcycles. Also present are Ullrich's award documents for the Iron Cross 1st and 2nd Class (the former awarded Apr. 5, 1945), Wound Badge in Black, promotion, motor corps certificate, and his Wehrpass which shows service until the very end of hostilities. Very good to fine condition.
