OTTO VON BISMARCK(1815 - 1898) Chancellor of the German Empire, fought Austria in the Seven Weeks' War, put through many economic and social reforms. Untranslated manuscript D.S. in German, 1p., 8vo., Berlin, Apr. 10, 1887, boldly signed "Bismarck" and written well after the bloody wars to unify Germany and bring it to European preeminence, during a time when Bismarck devoted himself to Germany's social problems. Presented with a handsome cabinet photo of Bismarck in military uniform with Iron Cross decoration taken in 1885, both pieces set into a dark wood frame, inlaid into black matting with red borders. Fine condition, not examined out of frame.
