Important collection of 104 original 5 x 4 in. 'Agfa Safetyfilm' negatives from proceedings at the trial of SS OSWALD POHL (1892-1951), Head of the Economic Office of the SS and ultimate overseer of the concentration camp system. It was Pohl who turned his victims' dental gold, eyeglasses, hair, etc. into cash for the SS, using the infamous 'Max Heiliger' Swiss accounts. The negatives include images of various defendants, including Pohl, August Frank and Georg Lorner, the defendants in the dock, defendants being questioned, jurors presiding at the trial, defense attorneys, etc. Overall fine condition. The Pohl trial against the Nazi German administration of the 'Final Solution' was the fourth of the thirteen trials for war crimes that the United States authorities held in their occupation zone in Germany in Nuremberg. In the Pohl case, SS-Obergruppenfuhrer Oswald Pohl and 17 other SS officers were tried for war crimes and crimes against humanity committed during the time of the Nazi regime. The main charge against them was their active involvement in and administration of the so-called 'Final Solution'. Four people, including Oswald Pohl, were sentenced to death by hanging. Three were acquitted. The others received sentences of imprisonment between 10 years and lifetime.
