HIROSHI OSHIMA (1886 - 1975) Japanese ambassador to Nazi Germany during World War II and once his diplomatic code was broken, he became a major source of communications intelligence for the Allies. Rare war-date L.S. on Japanese Embassy letterhead, 1p. 4to., Berlin, Oct. 7, 1939 to an unknown German officer expressing thanks for photographs sent to him following his tour of the Western Wall a few weeks earlier and mentioning that he would always have fond memories of the visit and the officer's kindness.
