Description:

OMEGA POCKET WATCH ATTRIBUTED TO HERMANN GORING AND WITH HIS COAT OF ARMS
An intriguing piece, a porcelain dial Omega pocket watch with Roman numerals and a sweep second dial at bottom, 1 7/8 in. dia., movement serial no. 5,555,193 and likely manufactured around 1917–1919. The case, also made by Omega, bears serial number 6259951 and likely dates to the early 1920s. The reverse of the case is nearly entirely covered with a well executed, elaborate engraving up Goring's coat of arms including two gauntleted arms holding rings upright, a knight's armored helmet, a shield, wings, and oak leaves to either side. There is one chip at the extreme edge of the porcelain dial, barely detracting, otherwise this timepiece is in very good, operating condition. The watch is accompanied by a copy of a 2005 bill of sale to our consignor from one James C. Correll in Raleigh, NC, an intermediary who sold on behalf of the family a large cache of Hitler and Goring personal property recovered at Berchtesgaden by Joseph Brugh, Sr. Joseph's collection had earlier passed to his son David, who is credited by historian Mark D. Griffith as a contributor of material to Griffith's highly regarded reference books, 'Collector's Guide to 'Liberated' Adolf Hitler Memorabilia', Vols. I & II, 1987.
