OLIVER WOLCOTT
(1726 - 1797) Signer of the Declaration of Independence, member of the Continental Congress, major general in the Continental Army. Scarce A.L.S. "Oliver Wolcott", 2pp. legal folio, Litchfield, May 23, 1764, largely legal content, in part: "...He had sufficient power to settle with me in the manner he did...it must be pretty mortfying that such a villanous Trick can any how be Brought under the Patronage of the Law...As to the Saybrook Execution it is quite unfortunate I am unable to settle it...there is no money amongst us...Think I shall for the future scarcely attempt to settle an [?] of any Consequence but by Imprisonment...". Some old repairs on verso are indistinguishable on recto, else very good.
