OBERSTLEUTNANT BRUNO KAHL'S PANZER OVERSEAS CAP
BRUNO KAHL (1914-1999) Oberstleutnant in the Wehrmacht, and was Kommandeur 3-Kompanie/Panzer Regiment 21, Kommandeur of III Abteilung/Panzerjager-Regiment 656, and Kommandeur Panzer Rgt. Grossdeutschland, a recipient of the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves. Offered here is an M1938 Panzer overseas field cap in black wool, believed to have been owned and worn by Bruno Kahl. Cap features a pink soutache indicating Panzer service, a national eagle and swastika hand-sewn to the peak, and just below the faded pink soutache, a red/white/black tri-color cockade machine-sewn to the cap. Trimmed in silver aluminum wire piping around the crown, and also along the upper edge of the front of the scalloped flap. Both sides of the cap bear a single black painted metal grommet on each ventilation hole. The interior displays a black satin lining, stamped with the size ‘57', and a pointed brown leather sweatband at the front. Hand-sewn to the interior is a small white label bearing the red initials ‘B.K.'. SOLD WITH: a Knights Cross short neck ribbon, with white ties sewn to either end of the ribbon for fastening around the neck, 20 in. long overall. This ribbon is presumed to be a reproduction, although it does come from the same 50+ year old collection. Two pieces, excellent condition.
