730. ANNIE OAKLEY (1860-1926) American trick shot specialist able to outshoot any rival, she toured with Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show from 1885 to 1902 and was one of Cody's prime attractions. A superb pair of items, includes a signed card, 4 1/4" x 2 1/2". New Castle, NH, July 28, 1917, a fifty-cent admission ticket to a "Society Horse Show and Exhibition Shoot" for the benefit of the Red Cross and which featured an exhibition of Oakley's shooting skills, boldly signed "Annie Oakley" in black ink at the lower-right corner of the card. Sold with a 4 1/2" x 2 3/4" card printed in red ink: "Compliments of Annie Oakley" with a red heart "target", bearing a bullet-torn vertical cut from one edge and a bullet hole through the "heart". On the verso is a pencil notation: "Shot at 30 ft - Card held edgewise in hand of Mr. Butler [Oakley's husband]". Apparently Butler also held the card with the heart facing Oakley.
