Description:

NUREMBERG TRIALS PRINCIPAL DEFENDANTS (21)
An exceedingly rare original English-language pamphlet entitled 'International Military Tribunal, Nuremberg German, 1945-46', 13pp. 4to., a first printing of the indictment and charges against the 21 Nazi war criminals. This particular printing was provided to American personnel directly affiliated with the trial and comes from the estate of Emilio di Palma, an 18-year-old guard assigned to the courthouse. During his tenure at Nuremberg, di Palma was able to acquire the signatures of all defendants, excluding Hess, which he then affixed to the inside and outside covers of the pamphlet. On the front cover, the signatories include: WILHELM FRICK (irregularly cut), JOACHIM VON RIBBENTROP, JULIUS STREICHER, WILHELM KEITEL, ERNST KALTENBRUNNER, WALTHER FUNK, ALFRED ROSENBERG (irregularly cut), HJALMER SCHACHT, DR. HANS FRANK, and KARL DONITZ (irregularly cut). On the back cover: ERICH RAEDER, ALBERT SPEER, BALDUR VON SHIRACH, FRITZ SAUKEL, KONSTANTIN VON NEURATH, ALFRED JODL, FRANZ VAN PAPEN (irregularly cut), HERMANN GORING, HANS FRITZSCHE (irregularly cut), and ARTUR SEYSS-INQUART (irregularly cut). Sold with a copy of Emilio de Palma's book 'Just a Kid, A Guard at the Nurnberg Trials', 71pp., 2003, being his first-hand account of meeting the various defendants, how he received the autographs (except Hess, who would not oblige), and so forth. He also discusses in-depth the above pamphlet, including photographs. Overall very good condition, with impeccable provenance.
