NUREMBERG TRIALS OFFICIAL'S BADGE, IDENTIFIED
Especially rare International Military Tribunal official's identification pin bearing the tribunal's emblem, enameled brass 1 1/8 in. wide and 1 3/8 in. tall, screw and disc on reverse. The pin is set in its original hinged, fitted case which is a bit scuffed. The pin is accompanied by a T.L.S. on British War Crimes Executive letterhead, 1p. 12mo., Nuremberg, June 8, 1946 in which a British Intelligence officer certifies that Col. C. M. Dodkins is 'authorized to retain one I.M.T. badge & case acquired by him from Justizpalast at Nuremberg, Germany on May 18, 1946...' Also included is an individual's offer to send this badge to a potential buyer; a typed description of the badge and its maker; and a 1982 militaria catalog from British dealers Forman of Piccadilly. Badge is in fine condition. Dodkins himself was an Intelligence Officer working for the British Army, and wore this badge while on duty in at the trial.
