(NUREMBERG TRIALS) LEROY H. WATSON
(1893-1975) General in the U.S. Army, served in the Pancho Villa expedition, member of the infamous West Point Class of 1915 known as 'The Class the Stars Fell On.' Typed D.S. with rank of brigadier general, 1p. 4to., Nuremberg, December 12, 1945, a response to complaints from defense counsels regarding conditions in their quarters. In part: '...Conditions as noted on complaint sheet have been corrected with exception as listed: a. The defense counsel use the backdoor since it is the most direct route to their mess where they are served individually...Conditions in the counsel's mess concerning table cloths, dishes and glasses have been corrected. One additional waitress will be employed to give proper service... This headquarters prefers not to reply directly to the complaints of a German counsel but rather to the United States office which employs him...' File holes to the top margin. Mounted. The verso of the mount features an A.L.S. from an unknown individual dated October 1946, possibly to the defense attorneys. It reads in part: '...Under no circumstances you may kill your own people, You all must work and pray. Please think about your country and your people. Always try and negotiate peace...'
