Description:

Rare pennant belonging to a regiment of the N.S.K.K., 45 x 22 in., two-sided construction, with a 12 in. diameter white swastika sewn tothe middle, and a black border stitched around the perimeter of the disc. Three notable patches were applied towards the hoist end of the flag, including two embroidered regimental patches, one for '2/M95' [Sturm 2, Standarte M95] and one for '12/M79' [Sturm 12, Standarte M79]. The other is the symbol of the NSKK, or National Socialis Motor Corps. The flag's edges have been trimmed in silver bullion ribbon, and the fly end has been reinforced with additional lines of red stitching. Four metal clasps are still attached for hanging, though an original fifth clasp, once present, has since been lost. The flag is heavily worn from age and use, with scattered stains, a few small tears, and a 1 in. segment of bullion at the top edge is lost. NSKK regimental flags are very rare, and those displaying two regiments are all the rarer. From a large grouping of 'liberated' Nuremberg relics consigned to us from the estate of Captain Augustus B. Hill, the Chief of Real Estate and Land Resources Branch of the Bavarian occupation government. Sold with a scanned copy of a letter of provenance from our consigner, who describes how Hill's property ended up in his collection.
