Description:

Red wool NSDAP armband, 20 x 4.75 in. (unsewn), as worn by a "Stellvertreter Gauleiter" ("deputy regional leader"). The armband bears a sewn-on white-painted fabric disk at center, containing an applied swastika of black ribbon. The edges of the swastika and disk are both piped in gold, and a single gold "pip" depicting a minuted national eagle is attached at the center of the swastika. A band of red fabric embroidered with a repeating oak leaf pattern in bullion, runs horizontally across the armband at center, beneath the central disk. The edges of the armband are piped in red (signifying a Gaul-level official", and the top and bottom edges of both the armband and the central band are bordered with gold bullion piping. A very small fragment of a paper RZM label and the faintest remnants of a white printed mark are visible on the verso. Ragged at the unsewn ends, shows a single minute moth nip to the red field and two small holes to the disk, else very good.
