NATHANIEL MCLEAN
(1815 - 1905) Union brigadier general, organized the 75th Ohio Vols. His men bravely held the line at Second Manassas, allowing Pope to withdraw. He was on the right flank of the Union battle line for the Battle of Chancellorsville, the part of the line that Stonewall Jackson attacked with his famous Flank March. He also served before Atlanta and in the March to the Sea. A.E.S. on a partly printed document, 1p. 4to. [n.p., n.d., ca. 1863], a special requisition for horses to draw a spring wagon at McLean's brigade headquarters. He executes his endorsement approving the requisition vertically at center left, signing ‘N. C. McLean' and adding his rank ‘Brig Gen Comdg'. Shows original folds with small chips thereto at the edges, faintly toned, otherwise in very good condition.
