NATHAN LEOPOLD
(1904 - 1971) American criminal who, with Richard Loeb, was convicted in the thrill-killing of a 14 year old. Saved from the chair by Clarence Darrow's brilliant defense. Scarce good content T.L.S. "Nate" on his personal letterhead, 1p. 8vo., Santurce, Puerto Rico, Mar. 4, 1963, to celebrated New York Post writer Leonard Lyons who penned the widely-read column The Lyons Den. Leopold discusses his upcoming release from probation: "...I can see no objection to your writing about our meetings AFTER MY DISCHARGE. Since I hope for this next week, the wait should not be too long. Of course I rely on your discretion and good taste. I was thrilled that [television interviewer] David Susskind has shown interest in [my memoirs] LIFE PLUS. No word from yet, however...". Very good.
