Description:

(NAPOLEONIC WARS)
A group of three documents, includes: CLAUDE VICTOR-PERRIN, DUC DE BELLUNO (1764-1841) French general and Marshal of France. Partly-printed D.S. ‘de Belluno' 1p. legal folio, Paris, Sept. 27, 1822, a leave of absence for a lieutenant in the 2nd Royal Guard Infantry Regiment, boldly signed at the conclusion. WITH: JOSEPH CADOUDAL (1784-1852) French general. A.L.S. 2pp. legal folio, [Oct. 10, 1823?], to the Minister of War who had requested details from Cadoudal about his birth and service to the army. Cadoudal provides full details and describes seeking refuge in England in 1815, having been exposed from 1800-1814 to persecution by Napoleonic authorities. He adds: ‘…I abandoned the theatre of war when all hope of being useful to the royal cause was destroyed…'. Mounting strip to the right edge. WITH: ALEXIS PIERRE AIME CAMBRAY (1760-1799) French general, brevetted following his exploits in the campaigns in Vendee. Manuscript L.S. ‘Cambray' 2pp. legal folio, June 5, 1799, to Adjutant General Thiebault: ‘...Today…will I have only complaints to make?...'. Cambray goes on to rail against the inability to procure an ambulance, a soldier dying for lack of aid, and that now he is now obliged to carry the wounded in his own carriage! Rough right edge, otherwise very good. Three pieces.
