MOURNING ABRAHAM LINCOLN IN NEW ORLEANS
A.L.S. of Capt. Joel B. Nott, 2pp. 8v., New Orleans, Apr. 20, 1865 to Capt. George F. Emmons, writing, "In behalf of the committee appointed at a meeting of Officers of the Army and Navy held on the 19th inst., we respectfully request you to meet your brothers in arms at Liberty Hall on Friday the 21st inst. At 12 o'clock pm for the purpose of expressing such sentiments and adopting such measures as may be proper on the mournful occasion of the death of our Commander in Chief Abraham Lincoln." Nott enlisted on October 31, 1862 in the U.S. Vols. Commissary Dept. from New York. He mustered out on May 7, 1865. Usual folds, mounting strip on verso, else in fine condition.
