Morse" 1p., 4to., "Pokeepsie July 23, 1859", to Samuel Colgate, in part: "...Mrs. Proal who is with us, feels very naturally much anxiety respecting her son who at present is in the establishment of Whitlock & Co. Beekman & Nassau Sts. She knows nothing against that firm, but the business in which they are engaged, (the Liquor business,) is one in which she considers there is more than ordinary temptation to wrong doing. She therefore is very desirous of getting a clerkship for him elsewhere....Do you know of any place of the kind suited to such a young man? ...".
