1051. JIM MORRISON (1943 - 1971) Moody, poetic lead singer and lyricist for the rock band The Doors, best remembered for his songs "Light My Fire", "Hello I Love You", "The End", and "People Are Strange". Died mysteriously in Paris. Excessively rare original lines of poetry on a 8" x 3" sheet of yellow paper: "Sleep is an under-ocean dipped into each night. At morning, awake dripping, gasping, eyes stinging". Near fine condition. These lines, possibly a draft, are from Morrison's poem "The Lords: Notes on Vision", from his first book of poetry, Lords & the New Creatures published in 1971. Ex: Christies. $1,500 - 2,000
