Description:

MORRIS R. JEPPSON
(1922-2010) American Air Corps officer, weaponeer on the Enola Gay with Rear Adm. William Parsons, responsible for arming the Hiroshima atomic bomb during the flight from Tinian to Japan. Fine content A.L.S, 1p. 4to. [n.p.], Sep. 4, 2008. In part: "…I think about the Enola Gay - Hiroshima mission when people ask about it. One cannot be happy or glad about a war mission that caused much loss of life…But we realize from historical records that the two atomic bombings quickly ended a war that would otherwise have involved a very costly invasion…I did at the time agree with Truman's decision and…I certainly agree today…Many good people…have told me they would not be have been born if the WWII had not 'ended' on 6 Aug 1945…". Fine.
