Description:

A very fine example of a Model 1906 Luger pistol, 3 3/4" barrel, 9" overall, chambered for 7.65 x 21mm Parabellum ammunition, manufactured by Deutsche Waffen-und Munitionsfabriken, or DWM. A "DWM" crest appears at the top of the toggle lock, and the top of the frame before the ejection port is marked with an "American Eagle" motif, similar to that found in the Great Seal of the United States. While a run of one thousand earlier Model 1900 Lugers were so marked to indicate their use in U.S. military pistol trials, the design was retained on these later Model 1906 pistols purely for advertising purposes, and denotes a commercially-produced pistol intended for the American export market. The front of the frame beneath the barrel and is marked with the serial number "54340" over the export mark "Germany", while the full serial number appears on the bottom of the barrel where it meets the frame, and the final two digits, "40", appear on the top and rear of the toggle, the locking bolt, and the bottom of the trigger side plate. German "Crown over N" nitro proof marks appear on the side of the breech block, the left-hand side of the frame before the sideplate, and the underside of the barrel. The pistol has not been disassembled to check for additional marks. The weapon features a fine blued finish overall, with strawed trigger, safety, ejector, and magazine release. The finish is extremely fine overall, showing only a single fine scratch on the back-strap and a wear line beneath the safety latch. The grips are dark, heavily checked walnut, and show no flaws or damage. The magazine is of bright sheet metal with a wood base, showing some scratches and wear overall, and is unmarked. The bore retains almost all of its original frosted surface, with only slight storage dust, and with the rifling and crown extremely well-defined. NRA grade excellent or better. All firearms purchases must be completed through a Federal Firearms License holder, and the purchaser is responsible for all associated fees. No shipping outside of the United States.
