Description:

(1902 - 1976) Japanese naval air officer who commanded and personally led the first wave of the attack on Pearl Harbor; he also helped develop the disastrous attack on Midway. Lot of two signed items, includes: superb content post-war A.L.S., 2pp. 4to., Seattle, Dec. 27, 1966 to noted collector Cornelius Greenway. The devout ex-pilot relates his travels over the past six months and mentions his "Fuchida Evangelistic Association". He adds: "...On my Honolulu visit, it was the 25th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack and my testimony had been richly blessed...I want to answer your question...Japanese Navy Lieutenant Saburo Sakai...was not under my command in the Pearl Harbor attack...I am now granted as a permanent resident in the United States...General Minoru Genda was my classmate at the Japanese Naval Academy and the same age. On the day of the Pearl Harbor attack, he was an air operations staff officer of the Fleet and I was a chief-commander of the air-squadron of the Fleet. After the war was over, I became a Christian evangelist and he came back to general of the revived Air Force of the Japanese..."; with the transmittal envelope upon which Fuchida pens his name at upper-left: "Capt. Mitsuo Fuchida". Both pieces in fine condition.

Shipments are sent via USPS Priority, USPS International Priority, FedEx and DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight.
