Description:

MISSOURI LETHAL INJECTION MACHINE MANUAL
Chilling printed book: 'Lethal Injection Machine Manual State of Missouri Operation and Instruction Manual', issued by Fred A. Leuchter Associates, Inc., Boston for the Missouri State Penitentiary, Oct. 15, 1988. The approx. 60pp. 4to. notebook describes in great detail the installation and operation of the machine which in brief had two executioners (only one administering the fatal dose) using the apparatus to mechanically inject the condemned with first a sedative, then a sleep-inducing drug, and finally a lethal dose of potassium chloride. Fine condition. Potassium chloride has been blamed for several botched executions. Fred Leuchter, Jr., founder of the company that developed this 'killing machine', is best known as the author of the Leuchter report, a pseudoscientific document alleging there were no gas chambers at Auschwitz-Birkenau. He was charged in Massachusetts with misrepresenting himself to penitentiaries as an engineer, despite having no relevant qualifications. He plea bargained with state prosecutors and received two years' probation. He has also been accused of running a 'death row shakedown', where he threatened to testify for the defense in capital cases if he was not given contracts for his services by that state.
