MINORU GENDA
(1904 - 1989) Japanese military aviator and politician, best known for his careful and intricate planning of the Pearl Harbor attack. He later organized and flew in a hard-fighting Japanese fighter unit. Great content T.L.S, 1p. 8vo., Athugi City, 1975, responding to questions. In part: '...Vice Admiral Takeo Kurita is now 84 years old...he is not in condition to accept any interview or inquiry from outside. Rear Admiral Takijiro Ohnishi disemboweled himself in his official residence at the end of World War II...Thus he followed a great number of his subordinates who had lost their lives in their so called 'kamikaze' attack on American naval crafts. This act of his was quite in keeping with the manner and spirit of Japanese bushido or the tradition of Japanese warriors...' Very fine condition. Accompanied by a hand addressed and signed envelope. Takijiro Ohnishi (1891-1945), as stated, was a Japanese admiral who was known as the 'father of the Kamikaze.' Ohnishi's suicide note apologized to the approximately 4,000 pilots he had sent to their deaths, and he urged all young civilians who had survived the war to work towards rebuilding Japan and peace among nations.
