MILLARD FILLMORE
Scarce A.N.S. as Vice President, 1p., 4to., Buffalo, April 22, 1849, written on the verso of a longer letter of recommendation of a new postmaster for Ithaca, NY. Fillmore writes, in full: "Mr. Williams is an intelligent business man and banker in Ithaca, and as such his statements are entitled to great weight in this matter. Mr. Nichols was a clerk in my office when comptroller, and I think him honest, capable, and industrious". Light, uneven toning, folds and a clean marginal tear, bearing a fine signature. Included with the lot is an original campaign handbill, 2 1/2" x 6 3/4", from the unsuccessful 1856 "Fillmore/Donelson" American Party ticket, bearing light wear to edges. Two pieces.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyer's should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
