MILITARY TELEGRAM ANNOUNCING THE ARMISTICE
Rare received original typed copy of a telegram announcing the armistice which effectively ended World War I, 1p. 8vo., 0900 Hours, Nov. 11, 1918, sent by Lt. Col. George Crossman, 59th (2nd North Midland) Division to 'C.R.A. AAA.' It reads, in full: 'HOSTILITIES WILL CEASE AT 11 TODAY NOV 11TH AAA TROOPS WILL STAND FAST IN PRESENT POSITIONS aaa 170TH BRIGADE WILL CONTINUE TO HOLD OUTPOST POSITIONS UNTIL UNITS OF 74th DIV HAVE ESTABLISHED A LINE FURTHER EAST AND IN FRONT OF THEM. aaa TOUCH WILL BE GAINED WITH FLANKIN[G] FORMATIONS aaa LINE TO BE PRESERVED AND THERE WILL BE NO COMMUNICATION WITH THE ENEMY AAA BDES C.R.A WILL REPORT LOCATION OF ALL UNITS aaa BDES C.R.A WILL REPORT LOCATION OF ALL UNITS aaa ADDED 3 BDES C.R.A. C.R.E. DM. G.O. C.M. TROOPS Q.' Set into a period mat and frame, since untouched. Sold with approx. 15 letters sent to DAVID BOYD, attached to the British Admiralty during World War I and in the U.S. as a representative of the Ministry of Shipping during World War II. The letters are all ca. 1917-19, various topics, largely business-related.

International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight.
