MIEP GIES
(1909-2010) Dutch citizen who hid Anne Frank and her family from the Nazis during World War II. She discovered and preserved Anne's diary after the Franks were arrested and deported. Fine content T.L.S. 1p. tall 4to., Amsterdam, Oct. 20, 2008, on Anne Frank House letterhead to Mary Louise in Kentucky, in part: "...Although I am greatly pleased with your admiring words, they still cause me some concern. I am afraid if people feel I am a heroin[e], they may doubt whether they will do the same I once did. Not many consider themself [sic] brave and therefore would refrain...I want everyone to know that I am just a common, cautious woman and surely not a daredevil. However, I knew that if I would not help, my conscience later in life would torture me, causing many sleepless nights. Such future I did not want, because that can be worse than losing my life. So I helped...". Folds, very good.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyer's should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
