MIDDLE PASSAGE SLAVE SHACKLES
A fine pair of slave shackles measuring 14" long, with the holders for the limbs measuring 3 1/2" from the steel bar. De-accessioned from the Slave Relics Museum in Walterboro, South Carolina and accompanied by a letter signed by Chief Curator Danny Drain describing the item and confirming the sale and authenticity. In part: "...Middle Passage Slave Shackle: Circa 1700s. All four (4) parts of the restraint are original. Used primarily on Slave Ships to confine Africans on lower deck. Item has excellent patina". Very good condition, with unimpeachable provenance.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
