Description:

MICKEY COHEN'S POWDER BLUE SILK SUIT
MICKEY COHEN (1913 - 1976) American gangster who started his career as Bugsy Siegel's bodyguard, but said to have been absent at Siegel's death on orders from Meyer Lansky. Cohen later fought for control of the Los Angeles mob, surviving many attempts made by rival Jack Dragna to "eliminate" him, including dynamiting his home, shotgun blasts, and so on. Cohen won out once Dragna lost police protection and found himself in jail. After facing crime hearings with great aplomb, Cohen himself was finally nailed on tax charges, served ten years in jail, and "went straight". Powder blue two piece silk suit once owned and worn by Cohen, a casual three-pocket with two vents at rear, the pants neither pleated nor cuffed. Labels within show that the suit is 100% silk and was made by "Capucci Creations" of Paris, London, and Rome. Pants bear some soiling in the rear and a few light spots, rear pants button broken, else very good. From the founder and curator of a nationally-recognized crime-related museum who originally obtained a grouping of Cohen's clothing directly from Cohen's estate. With our COA offering fuller details of provenance, guaranteed authentic for the life of the original purchaser.
