MICHAEL WITTMANN
(1914-1944) German Waffen SS tank commander during the Second World War. A winner of the Knight's Cross, he was credited with the destruction of 138 tanks and 132 anti-tank guns making him one of Germany's top scoring panzer aces. He was most famous for his ambush on the British 7th Armored Division at the Battle of Villers-Bocage on June 13, 1944 where he destroyed 14 tanks and 15 personnel carriers in 15 minutes. He was killed on Aug. 8, 1944 near Saint-Aignana-de-Cramesnil. Extremely rare S.P. 5 1/4" x 7" sepia photograph of two tiger tanks fording a river in Eastern Europe. Signed, "Mich Whittmann SS O'fuhr" at bottom center. Slight curling to edges and wear at corners, else very good condition.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
