1708. MELVIN FRANKLIN OF THE TEMPTATIONS (1942-1995) American singer, the famous bass voice of Motown singing group The Temptations, also the uncle of Rick James. An A.Ms.S., 1p., 4to., [n.p., n.d.], a handwritten sheet of in progress lyrics for a song labeled "January" at top. Following five lines, Franklins writes 21 more lines using a different pen, seemingly for a different song, in part: "When I see her/ driving in her pretty red Cadilac (sic) four door / I know that she deserves all of that and much more..." On ruled note paper, some text crossed out, torn punch holes at left, light handling otherwise very good. $100-200
