Included is one of the more controversial recipients, 2nd. Lt. HARRY L. HAWTHORNE(cited for his conduct at Wounded Knee Creek, 1890), his signature adding rank as Captain of the 6th Artillery on a blank payroll form. Offered together with Civil War Admiral DAVID D.
