A 27-PIECE GROUPING OF AWARDS, MEDALS AND DOCUMENTS Large and extensive grouping of eleven medals, a medal ribbon, a ribbon bar, and fourteen documents, all related to "Schutzpolizei" ("state police") Major Ernst Korn. Includes in this fine grouping is a partly-printed D.S., 1p. 8vo., [n.p.], Nov. 10, 1942, an award certificate granting the Iron Cross, First Class to Korn, signed at the conclusion by a general of infantry in black ink; a partly-printed D.S., 1p. oblong 8vo., [n.p.], July 1918, an award certificate granting the 1914 Iron Cross, Second Class to Korn, then serving in the Landwehr, signed by a general of cavalry; a typed D.S., 1p. 8vo., [n.p.], Aug. 22, 1941, an official copy of an award certificate granting Korn the 1939 Spange to his 1914 iron Cross, Second Class, signed by an adjutant in black ink; a partly-printed D.S., 1p. 8vo., Riga, April 20, 1943, an award certificate granting Korn the War Merit Cross, First Class with Swords, signed at the conclusion in blue ink by FRIEDRICH JECKELN (1895-1946), an SS leader in the Soviet Union, personally responsible for ordering the deaths of 100,000 Jews and other "undesirables"; a partly-printed document, 1p. 8vo., [n.p.], Aug. 15, 1942, an award certificate granting Korn the Eastern Front Medal, bearing the facsimile signature of an SS-Gruppenfuhrer at the conclusion; a partly-printed D.S., 1p. oblong 8vo., Karlsruhe, Oct. 23, 1934, an award certificate granting Korn the Honor Cross of the World War 1914/1918, signed in black ink at the conclusion by a Karlsruhe police official; a partly-printed document , 1p. oblong 8vo., Budapest, May 11, 1933, a bilingual award certificate in German and Hungarian, granting Korn the Hungarian War Commemorative Medal; a partly-printed D.S., 1p. folio, [n.p.], May 9, 1923, an award certificate granting Korn the Austrian Cross of the Legion of Honor 1914-1918, signed at the conclusion by the chancellor of the order in black ink; a partly-printed document, 1p. oblong 8vo., [n.p.], Oct. 13, 1922, an award certificate granting Korn the War Commemorative Medal 1914/1918 of the Kyffhauserbund bearing the facsimile signature of Paul von Hindenburg at the conclusion; a partly-printed document, 1p. folio, Karlsruhe, [n.d.], an award certificate granting Korn the German Honor Medal of the World War; a printed document, 1p. oblong 4to., [n.p., n.d.], an award certificate granting Korn the Prussian Honor Cross of War;a typed document, 1p. oblong 8vo., Lamsdorf, Sep. 11, 1919, an award certificate granting the Silesian Eagle to Korn. This decoration was awarded for service during the 1919-1921 Silesian Uprisings against German rule; a typed D.S., 1p. 4to., Mannheim, Sep. 15, 1936, a certificate confirming the Korn has been awarded five decorations, including four listed above along with the Baden Medal for Merit 1907-1918. A Mannheim police official signs at the conclusion in black ink; With a typed D.S., 1p. oblong 8vo., [n.p., n.d.], a list of ten awards granted to Korn, all of which are described above. These documents show various folds and chips, else very good. Also present with the lot are almost all of the medals described in the award certificates: Korn's 1939 Iron Cross, First Class, screw back version, marked "L58" indicating manufacture by Rudolf Souval; a War Merit Cross, First Class with Swords, marked "65" on the vertical clasp; a silk medal ribbon bearing a 1939 Spange to the Iron Cross; a medal bar featuring Korn's 1914 Iron Cross, First Class with 1939 Spange, the War Merit Cross, Second Class with Swords, the Eastern Front Medal, the Baden Medal for Merit 1907-1918, the Honor Cross of the World War 1914/1918, the German Honor Medal of the World War with sword device, the War Commemorative Medal 1914/1918 of the Kyffhauserbund with crossed swords device, the Austrian Cross of the Legion of Honor 1914-1918, and the Hungarian War Commemorative Medal; and a ribbon bar featuring the ribbons of the Iron Cross, First Class with 1939 Spange, the War Merit Cross, Second Class with Swords, the Eastern Front Medal, the Baden Medal for Merit 1907-1918, the German Honor medal of the World War with swords, and the Hungarian War Commemorative Medal with swords. A superb, rare grouping in fine condition. Twenty-seven pieces.
