MARTIN MUTSCHMANN
(1879-1947) NSDAP Governor of Saxony. Captured by the Soviets while preparing a last-ditch offensive on the Eastern Front and executed in 1947. Pair of signed items, includes: Typed D.S., 1p. 4to., Dresden, March 11, 1938, appointing teacher Hans Schreiber a permanent instructor at the Service School of Saxony. Mutschmann signs at the conclusion in black ink, over a blind-embossed national eagle within a wreath. The document bears folds and file holes at the left margin, else very good. WITH: T.L.S., 1p. 8vo., Dresden, Nov. 20, 1944, to Hans Schreiber''s widow, expressing his condolences for the death of her husband, who was conscripted into the military late into the war, in part: "...Unfortunately, this war, imposed on us by the World Enemy Judaism, also demands the most severe sacrifices. The best and most brave sons of our people give their lives in extremely hard and heavy struggles for freedom and the future of Europe. Your husband, too, has a very personal part in the happy outcome of this mighty struggle. His name is inextricably connected with this greatest period of German history. With all your pain, you should be proud of this awareness..." Folds, else very good. Two pieces.
