(1900 - 1945) Head of the Nazi Party Chancellery and private secretary to Adolf Hitler, by the end of World War II Bormann had become second only to Hitler himself in terms of real political power. Fine association T.L.S. on. NSDAP Party Chancellery Leader letterhead, 1p. 4to., Munich, Nov. 20, 1944 to WILHELM KEITEL (1882-1946), German field marshal and army chief of staff adds a lengthy A.N. and his bold initial "K" at top. Bormann advises: "...Attached I am sending you a carbon copy of my letter of today [not present] to the Reichsminister of the Interior, Reichsfuhrer-SS Himmler, with the request that you take note of it..." Boldly signed at bottom. Keitel pencils five lines of notes: "According to telephone review with Ou, enforcement of the Fuhrer order is also planned for East Prussia (result of discussion [of] Gauleiter Koch - Chief of the Heersgruppe Mitte...written report to follow...). File holes at left, else very good. Gauleiter Erich Koch of Prussia was appointed as head of the Volkssturm of East Prussia on the same day, 25 November 1944.
