MARTIN BORMANN
(1900 - 1945) Head of the Nazi Party Chancellery and private secretary to Adolf Hitler, by the end of World War II Bormann had become second only to Hitler himself in terms of real political power. Fine content and association late war-date T.L.S. on official letterhead, 2pp. 4to., Mar 5, 1944 to ALFRED KRUPP VON BOHLEN (1907–1967), a major German industrialist and contributor to the SS. He was convicted after World War II of crimes against humanity for the genocidal manner in which he operated his factories (with the use of slave labor) and sentenced to twelve years in prison. In part: '...National Socialism means the strengthening of our German people for their further inevitable struggle for survival. What serves this strengthening is to be affirmed, what harms it is to be denied and rejected.
