Description:

MARTIN BORMANN
(1900 - 1945?) Head of the Nazi Party Chancellery and private secretary to Adolf Hitler, by the end of World War II Bormann had become second only to Hitler himself in terms of real political power. Good content war-date T.L.S. on N.S.D.A.P. letterhead, 2p. 4to., Berlin, Aug. 1, 1942 to HANS LAMMERS, (1879 - 1962) Minister and Chief of the Reich Chancellery who has initialed the letter as well. Marked "Secret". In part: "...I think it will be appropriate if, on the occasion of our joint approach to the Fuhrer concerning the draft Fuhrer Declaration concerning a 'German Order', we present our initiative, considered long ago, concerning the Fuhrer election. The list attached to the rejected draft...is now outdated. I have ordered that the list be brought up to date...". Very good. Bormann is likely referring to a German award, perhaps the German Cross, and to those to whom it will be awarded. Folds, dockets, and a small marginal paper clip stain, very good.
