Description:

MARIYA LENIN
(1878-1937) Sister of Vladimir Lenin, a revolutionary and prominent figure in the Community Party. She took an active part in the work of the Leninist Iskra, and was a member of the Pravda editorial board. Very rare typed D.S. 1p. oblong 8vo., Jan. 23, 1935, an authorization on letterhead of the Commission of Soviet Control for three scientists to be sent to the Agricultural Research Institute. Boldly signed at conclusion in purple ink. Like other members of the Lenin family as well as many prominent Bolshevik leaders, under Stalin's regime, Mariya was consigned to a minor governmental post rather than be sent to the Gulag. Of course, these positions were unimportant, thus making any surviving documents from this era very scarce. Foldtears at margins, otherwise very good condition.
