MARIAN CROSS
Scarce award, the Marianer-Kreuz des Deutschen Ritterordens, white enamel Latin cross pattée with black enamel panels, with loop and original ribbed ribbon ring, the face with a circular central white panel bearing a red cross within a black enamel ring inscribed 'ORDO TEUT. HUMANITATI'. The reverse is identical but with the circular central white ring bearing the date. Original trifold ribbon. The Order originated in the time of the Crusades during the siege of Acre in 1919, and over the years encouraged the support of voluntary hospitals and medical care. It ceased to be awarded after the fall of the Hapsburg Empire in 1918. One tiny chip to the enamel just to the left of the lower shaft of the cross, else very good, with Vienna maker Rothe & Neffe case.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. NOTE: large, heavy or bulky items are not shipped by the auctioneer.
