Margaret Mitchell 1900-1949 American novelist, winner of the Pulitzer prize for her immensely popular novel of life in the South during the Civil War, Gone With the Wind. Good content T.L.S. "Margaret Mitchell Marsh", 1+pp. 12mo., Atlanta, Dec. 18, 193 to Dr. Charles Mayos, a prominent Illinois psychiatrist who praised Mitchell for the psychiatric acumen with which she portrayed Scarlett O'hara. Mitchell writes that she has received: "...photographs of the Rock Island Arsenal Confederate Cemetery and the list of Georgians buried there... indebted to you for the information and photographs, and I thank you so much for your kindness. I hope that you have a Christmas ..." Mitchell refers to the Civil War Federal prison on Rock Island, Illinois which held 5-8,000 Confederate prisoners. Fine.
