Description:

MALSCH & AMBRONN S.A. DAGGER
Early Malsch & Ambronn "Sturmabteilung" (SA) dagger, 8 3/4" blade, 13 3/4" overall, with brown wood grips inlaid on one side with a nickel silver national eagle and "button" insignia of the SA. The SA button is properly aligned and fitted with a tiny bit of verdigris at bottom, the eagled also fitted correctly with no gaps. Pommel and crossguard also fit to wood grips properly, and the grips show typical wear from use. The reverse of the lower crossguard is stamped "Sa", indicating the regional branch of the SA to which the owner belonged. This stamp also indicates that the dagger was manufactured prior to 1935. The blade is deeply etched with the motto: "Alles fur Deutschland" ("All for Germany"), still darkly shadowed, and is likewise stamped by the maker on the opposite side. The blade is in very good condition, with good crossgrain, but has been slightly sharpened - not noticeable unless one feels the blade. Anodized scabbard is worn with a couple of dings, still quite acceptable. Estimated accordingly.
